Around TorontoAbout this event
A powerful theatrical performance detailing the life and struggles of legendary comedian Lenny Bruce. The production ran for 125 performances in Los Angeles and for nine months Off-Broadway, earning critical acclaim and rave reviews. Named an LA Times Critic’s Choice, the production explores the life and battles of one of the most groundbreaking and influential comedians of all time. Drawing from his many court battles in defense of free speech, the production also incorporates excerpts from his original comedic material and insights from his own writings. These elements are masterfully woven together by creator and star Ronnie Marmo and expertly directed by Tony Award-winning stage, film and television actor Joe Mantegna.
